Fireworks & Festivities 2017 in and around Athens, GA!

This year there are PLENTY of opportunities to celebrate on and around Independence Day ~ July 4th with fireworks and festivals in and aroundpatriotic ribbon Athens, GA!   Here are dates and details for festivals, celebrations, and fireworks coming up in 2017!

 

Saturday June 24, 2017 – City of Jefferson Freedom Festival 5pm until 10pm.  “The Jefferson Freedom Festival will be bigger than ever this year with food, fun, and lots of activities for the children. Music will feature the “Fly Betty Band”. The Fireworks will be shot off from the back of the Fire Station, so the field below the Regions Bank Drive-thru will be available for lawn chairs and picnic blankets.”  freedom_festival

 

Friday, June 30, 2017  “Downtown Fire” – hosted by Commerce, GA 

“At Dark”  Featuring Hunter Grayson Band, facepainting, food trucks and fireworks in Spencer Park

Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 6pm  No fireworks but lots of fun!  The Comer GA Police & City of Comer will be having “Public Safety Night at the Movies”.

Athens, GA celebrates Independence Day 2017 on Saturday, July 1, 2017 with downtown festivities & fireworks!

“Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. and includes live music, children’s activities, and food trucks. The festival area is located on Washington Street (between Lumpkin & Jackson) and College Avenue (between Hancock & Broad) The highlight of the evening will be a fabulous fireworks display scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m. “

And of course Colbert, GA will have the Annual July 4th Parade on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at 9am.  No fireworks, but PLENTY of fun, crafts, and food!

Photos with Santa 2016 ~ in & around Athens GA ~ Christmas 2016!

santa-and-sleighOk, Santa is making the rounds in and around Athens, GA so there should be plenty of opportunities for the little ones to get their photos taken with Santa and have some fun.

Here is our list and feel free to let us know of any other great ones in the in the comments so we can add them!

This one is BIG, because Mrs. Claus is there too!  And furry family members are welcome also!  The Christmas Cottage is located at Galilee Christian Church just up the road in Jefferson, GA.  There are lots of dates and times they are open, so check here for the exact calendar and more information!

Make a family fun day of it and visit Jack’s Creek Christmas Tree Farm & Nursery  in Bostwick, GA.  They do advise that you call to confirm Santa’s schedule.  See more photos of their operation on Facebook.

The GA Square Mall host a great Santa, and you are able to reserve photo times online now!

It looks like Santa will be at the Oconee County Library on Monday, 12/5/16 from 4pm until 6pm.  Free and open to the public and you can take photos.

Update, we just got word:  Santa will be at Avid Bookshop at 493 Prince Ave., Athens, GA (our original location) Saturday, 12/10/16. Show up for story time by 10:30am, & Santa will make his grand entrance shortly thereafter. When story time is over, kids can meet Santa and take photos (BYO camera).

The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is hosting “Here Come Santa Paws.  Photo ops for kids and furry friends.  Taking place in Danielsville, GA on 12/10/16 from 10am until 3pm! And lots more activities too!

Athens, GA Upcoming Christmas Festivities 2016

Thursday, December 1, 2016 kicks off the season with the Athens, GA Parade of Lights.  This year the theme is “A Fairytale Christmas”.  Everyone loves a Christmas Parade in Athens and it starts at 7pm, but be early to get a great spot for viewing.   Need more info about the Athens Christmas parade and route?  Just click here.

Friday, December 2, 2016 gives you several options for celebrations!

Colbert, GA plays host to “An Old Fashioned Christmas”  According to the post on Facebook, “”Christmas in Colbert” is this Friday, December 2, 2016 6:30 – 8:30 in Downtown Colbert, GA.

We are looking forward having a wonderful evening to kick off the Christmas season. Hotdogs, drinks, hot-chocolate, candy, cookies, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Santa, a visit to the Manger with live animals. A hayride, face-painting, a visit through the Polar Express, and a cake walk.

All activities and food free of charge. Please remember to bring a canned good or unwrapped toy for the Madison County Food Bank to help our county supply a special Christmas for those in need. Bring a donated item for the Animal Shelter, (Shredded paper, dog/cat food, paper towels, hand sanitizer, etc.) There will be a special place set up for your donations.

Friday, December 2, 2016 is also “Christmas in the Park” in Winterville, GA!  (Please note that we are still trying to confirm the date/time for this year – check back!).

Saturday, December 3, 2016 is also the Comer, GA Christmas parade.  This is a great, small town parade in the daylight.  There is also a craft festival to shop!  The Comer parade starts at 2pm.santa-and-sleigh

Commerce, GA  has a weekend full of fun starting on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 and continuing with their Christmas Parade on Sunday December 4th, 2016 at 3pm.
